Test Method Assurance Program 2021 | Atlas Pressed Metals

Each year Atlas Pressed Metals’ in-house materials laboratory participates in an industry-sponsored, voluntary testing program, the Test Method Assurance Program. As in past years Atlas has received its 2020 certificate demonstrating proficiency in performing various test methods outlined in the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) material standard.

“I feel the TMAP helps give customers and the materials laboratory a sense of comfort and reassurance that we are proficient in these tests. We are given random samples, they are tested and our results are then compared against other laboratories, said Christina Mahlon, Materials Engineering Technician at Atlas. “We have participated in the TMAP for over 15 years and will continue to do so. The TMAP program is really a good way to verify a laboratory’s knowledge in the basic standard test methods used in our industry.”

Tom Pfingstler, Atlas Metallurgical Services Manager agrees, “As our materials lab grew over the years we felt it was imperative that our customers could trust the data we generate. Participation in the TMAP program offers us an independent mechanism to compare our results to others in the industry and to third party accredited labs.”

According to the MPIF, material and testing standards are established to “aid in the conduct of business,” and help to clarify and promote the advancement of powder metallurgy and associated metal powder industries through well-established material standards and test methods.
